A new kind of shopping experience has arrived in Windhoek—one that blends fashion, lifestyle, and community under a single roof. The Kollab, a shared retail space launched by a group of Namibian designers, is redefining what it means to build and grow a creative brand locally.

Founded on the belief that “there’s strength in numbers,” The Kollab offers a fresh, collaborative alternative to the often-isolating journey of solo entrepreneurship in the fashion world. “Especially in smaller markets like Windhoek, the industry can feel lonely,” says the founder. “I wanted to create a space where creatives could grow together—sharing visibility, customers, and inspiration.”

What started as one designer’s idea quickly evolved into a buzzing collective. Some brands joined immediately, others took time to come on board, but all shared a hunger for connection. Today, The Kollab is home to a diverse mix of makers—from streetwear designers and fine jewellers to skincare creators and candle artisans.

The space itself is styled with Japandi influences: minimal yet inviting, calm but creative. Each brand retains its own identity within the shop, while still contributing to a cohesive, curated feel.

“There’s a balance between independence and cohesion,” the founder explains. “We respect each other’s creative language, and that’s what makes it exciting.”

Customers have responded with surprise and delight, many discovering Namibian-made products they never knew existed. “People love finding something new with every visit. It’s not just a store—it’s an experience.”

Of course, collaboration also comes with challenges. A major hurdle has been managing production timelines to keep the store consistently stocked. But with open communication and shared goals, the group continues to adapt and grow. Beyond sales, The Kollab has sparked unexpected opportunities: pop-up events, capsule collections, and even interest from outside brands.

Looking ahead, the team envisions expanding the space into a full-scale destination for Namibian creativity. “We want The Kollab to represent the richness of local design across fashion, beauty, lifestyle, and homeware.”

The founder leaves readers with a vision of possibility: “I hope people leave feeling inspired—proud to support Namibian talent, and excited by what’s possible when we build together.”
